||||||||||||||
Programme Overview | ||||||||||||||
Architecture is the art of designing the human built environment. Buildings are one of the most visible productions of man, and vary greatly in design, function, and construction implementation across the globe. The visions that Architects conceive are projected onto the society and the built environment in which they practice. These conceptions and ideas will inadvertently have profound effects on the built environment, and consequently on the people who interact with that environment. Architecture is, therefore, an art form, the learning of which requires professional practice, personal artistic development and technical knowledge of building. The constant dialogue between society and the architect is what produces architecture - as a product and as well as a discipline. The Diploma in Architectural Studies at UCSI University is a 3-year program, designed to provide the necessary technical knowledge and the required practical skill for individuals who wish to join the industry's work force at an early stage. The building industry is in need of competent support groups who are knowledgeable in their field to fill positions as technical draftsperson, CADD draftsperson, site supervisors and material-supplier specialist to name a few. In response to this demand, the Diploma in Architectural Studies at UCSI University offers a well-rounded and integrated range of subjects to prepare graduates to enter the working environment, or to pursue their studies act the higher level of the Architecture Degree programs. Programme Overview
This is the degree for you – an innovative and forward thinking degree programme, led by research-active staff, which uniquely brings together the study of Education and English to examine the relationship between the two. Education is essential to the development of an informed society, widening opportunities and giving people choices on how to see the world. The Education modules explore the four pillars of education (philosophy, psychology, sociology and history of education) and the practice of education in a variety of contexts to create new knowledge and discovery. English looks at how, through language, meanings emerge and are transformed through different cultural and social contexts and values. The English modules consider how readers, writers, speakers, listeners and viewers extract and communicate meanings using the English language in the past, present and future. |

Programme Overview | |||||||||||||||
The A-Level Academy in UCSI University offers the Cambridge GCE A-Levels that has a well-established reputation for being excellent preparation for university, employment and life. It develops in-depth subject knowledge and understanding for students - which universities and employers heavily emphasise on – and help students gain places at leading universities worldwide. All universities in the United Kingdom and over 450 universities in the United States recognize the Cambridge International AS and A-Levels, including Harvard, Yale, MIT and Stanford. At UCSI University, we offer the 18-month Cambridge GCE A-Level programme, with examinations scheduled in June and November. Focus is placed on personalised student attention by the A-Levels team of dedicated lecturers. Here, we have an excellent track record of students with a high percentage of A*s and As achieved for each examination. Over the years, the A-Level Academy has seen many batches of students through with excellent A-Level results. Some have chosen to pursue their degree programmes in top-notch universities worldwide like Imperial College London and Kings College London in the UK, University of Melbourne in Australia and National University of Singapore. Many have also elected to further their studies through the various home-grown degree programmes offered by our own UCSI University, ranging from Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biotechnology, Food Science, Engineering, Psychology and IT, to name a few. Countless numbers of our students have obtained full or partial scholarships; for example, the Singapore ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship, the Wesleyan Asian Freeman Scholarship and JPA scholarships. Our best students have been awarded the Top A-Level Student Award for consecutive years. The fact that UCSI University's A-Level Academy produced more Top 10 Achiever Awards than any other institution in the world in 2010- clinching six awards for physics, five for biology and three for chemistry – makes us tremendously proud of our students' achievements and we look forward to recording more world-class achievements in the A-Level Academy in the years to come. |

Cambridge GCE A-Levels
Cambridge GCE A-Levels is the ‘gold standard' qualification, which is based on rigorous, academic syllabus that optimises the abilities of talented students with a wide range of abilities and stretches the full potential of the most able students. The Cambridge International AS and A-Levels courses are viewed as equivalent to the AS and A-Levels in the UK, and are accepted for entrance to all UK universities. The Cambridge GCE A-Level programme follows a ‘staged' assessment, in contrast to the traditional linear A-Levels where all subjects are assessed in a single examination session at the end of the course. Its flexibility enables students to sit for the AS level in one examination and complete the final Cambridge International A-Levels at a subsequent session. There is also a performance feedback session where students who have completed the AS level will receive valuable feedback on their performance, thus identifying their own strengths and weaknesses that will help them set learning goals for the A2 level. |
